They are an intrinsic part of yogic medicine. Mudra is called the Kama by redirecting the balance of the five elements in the body. The word Shunya means void or sky in Sanskrit. This Shunya Mudra or Akash Mudra is supposed to work on the basic element of ether, which allows all space.
Like any hand posture, Shunya posture is especially beneficial while meditating. It can also be practiced while sitting, prone, standing or walking, as long as the body is relaxed and the posture is symmetrical. It is recommended that the Shunya Mudra should be practiced three to five times every day for five to 15 minutes and should be discontinued when its health benefits are not required.
In ancient texts, Shunya mudra was cited as providing access to the realm of heaven using fire energy (represented by the thumb) and ether energy (represented by the middle finger).

Follow the steps
Shunya mudra is a relatively simple pose. You can easily do this by following these steps of this mudra:
Fold the middle so that its tip rests on the mound of your thumb.
Bend your thumb until it is pressed lightly on the middle finger. All other fingers should point directly towards the sky.
This mudra can be done for 45 minutes every day or in three sessions of 15 minutes each.
The zero pose is usually performed with both hands.
